Lacool was established in 1992 in response to the increasing popularity of the “add-on air conditioning” concept now found in Victoria, the ACT and areas of southern NSW and SA.

Clean Natural Gas is the preferred heating fuel in Victoria as well as Southern NSW, South Australia and Tasmania because it is clean, economical and environmentally friendly. It is used in thousands of residential as well as commercial ducted heating systems. Many of these systems can be originally designed, or adapted at a future date, to incorporate refrigerated air conditioning. Lacool’s is a well known trade-only supplier to this ever expanding market.

The concept employs a “cooling only” air conditioning unit with matching evaporator (cooling coil), to be installed in a “split system” configuration. These two components, when installed with ancillary refrigerant piping and controls form a refrigerated cooling system that can be added to gas fired ducted heating systems. This then becomes a total comfort system, providing economical gas fired ducted heating in winter and humidity reducing refrigerated air conditioning in summer through the one ducted system. This method results in reduced green house gasses compared with reverse cycle air conditioning as the electric compressor in add-on cooling systems is only used during the cooling cycle. The compressor service life is much increased. The heating cycle uses clean natural gas.

Lacool designed Evaporator range includes a corrosion proof polyethylene cabinet fitted with a low profile and low static cooling coil. Installation is a breeze as roofing structures do not need to be dismantled because the design allows for sliding the unit in between roof battens or floor joists. The unit can be matched to almost any brand air conditioning unit and is very well accepted and preferred by the trade.

Lacool is the Victorian distributor for high quality Uni-aire air conditioning systems. Models are available in reverse cycle and cooling only. Uni-aire air conditioners for Australian distribution are specifically designed for local conditions and comply with the stringent AS 3823. (MEPS: Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards) Spare parts are readily available, even many years after purchase, unlike some imported units.

Lacool operates from a modern warehouse and office facility, located centrally in the Melbourne metropolitan area. It is staffed by an order desk, warehouse manager, assembly and store personnel and caters for pick-up as well as on-site delivery. Delivery times can be pre booked to suit crane appointments.
